August 8, 2012 Rehearsal at RCAF

The August 8 rehearsal of the Sackville Citizens Band will be held at the RCAF building in Amherst, Nova Scotia from 7pm to 9pm. We will be getting ready for the upcoming Winefest at the Winegarden Estates on Sunday August 12. See you there.

Sackville Citizens band plays at Ok.Quoi?!

The Sackville Citizens Band joined Motion Ensemble in a concert at the Ok.Quoi?! Contemporary Arts Festival! on Friday, August 3, 4:30pm at the historic Sackville Music Hall. The music was a conducted improvisation by the composer Jérôme Blais.

Originally from Québec, Jérôme Blais now lives and works in Halifax, where he teaches at Dalhousie University and performs as a pianist and improvisor. His compositions have been performed by a vast array of musicians and ensembles across Canada. Jérôme’s work frequently focuses on the integration of improvisation into composition, and at OK.Quoi?!, he lead musicians in his “Conduction” process, as a means to creating a performance together.
